What exactly is free?

Director-Lite and the Apache-2.0 core in Director-AI are free for any use, including closed-source production. They are not time-limited trials.

When is a paid licence needed?

The BUSL-1.1 Advanced and Labs capabilities are free to read and evaluate. A commercial entitlement is required when those capabilities ship to production.

Why is the perpetual offer gone?

A USD 999 one-time licence undercut the supported subscription after only five months. Annual entitlement now keeps production rights, updates, and support scope explicit.

Is Director-Class AI a separate product?

Yes. It is the BUSL action-control product. Its Additional Use Grant permits internal self-hosting; commercial terms cover third-party hosted, managed, or product use.
